I want to dedicate this Blog site to God and to the insight He has given me to begin this journey again. I am once again in a spot where I need to express what is in my heart and I decided to take up blogging again with a new name honoring my mother. Her name is Juana , lovingly known as ‘Nena’ , a name her dad gave her. I like to think she was his favorite child. Of all his children she looked the most like him.

She was a force to be reckoned with loving, sweet, caring, empathetic, fiercely loyal to her family and a lioness of a mom. She was also VERY set in her ways, no flexibility, very limited sense of humor and her word was set in stone. However, she was very intuitive and smart even without much formal education, but she could read a person and know what they were about. I feel like she imparted lots of knowledge and so I have decided to start there and share some of the things she taught me. I hope I am able to help someone here. As a wife, mom of a special child and a typical child, as a working woman, friend, sister, cousin and what I have learned along the way in this life. With age comes knowledge and we should strive to show those who come behind us. Mom used to say: “Si te llevas de consejo, mueres de viejo.” which means: if you heed advise, you will die of old age.

So, here’s to you Mami. Thank you for showing me the way and for being a great teacher. Love you always.
